How to make Papaya juice, smoothie and papaya milk shake

Papaya is a tropical fruit tree basically originated to Mexico and South America. Papaya plants have three sexes Male, Female and hermaphrodite. Male plant produces only pollen, it never produces fruit and the female plant produces small fruits but it is inedible unless it is pollinated. The third type hermaphrodite can self-pollinate and it is considered to be the commercial fruit. According to its color it is classified into red and yellow papaya. India produces most in the world followed by Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia and Mexico.

                All the three forms of papaya tree (leaves, raw fruit as well as seeds) can be used for various medicinal purposes.
                One cup of papaya pulp has 55 calories. Papaya contributes  Vitamin C, Folate, Fiber, Vitamin A, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Pantothenic acid.


Medicinal qualities:

Papaya leaves:
It consists of a chemical ‘papain’ used as a meat tenderizer.
·         Treating/preventing gastrointestinal tract disorders
·         Trats gastric ulcer
·         Intestinal parasite infection
·         Gluten (composite of stored proteins) digestion
·         Treating patients with hemorrhagic dengue fever having less platelet count
·         Effective anti-cancer agent (papaya tea)

How to prepare tea with papaya leaves:
·         Wash the papaya leaves
·         Cut it into small pieces
·         Add 1 litre of water and boil it without closing the pan.
·         Stop when water is reduced to half.

Caution:
Papaya leaves may cause allergic reactions because of the enzyme papain

Papaya seeds:
·         Used for healthy kidney
·         Treat arthritis (joint pain)
·         Effective against intestinal worms and parasites

Raw papaya:
It is a good source of vitamins, fibers and minerals
·         It Lowers cholesterol and helps in reducing weight
·         Boosts immunity and good for diabetics
·         Good for eyes
·         Improves digestion and Helps in easing menstrual pain.

Papaya juice
  • ·         Peel papaya, remove all the seeds and slice into small pieces
  • ·         Add small quantity of pineapple juice and lemon juice (for better taste)
  • ·         Add some sugar as needed
  • ·         Add a pinch of black pepper powder
  • ·         Add half cup of water with ice cubes to serve chill
  • ·         Add salt as required and blend for few seconds.

Papaya milkshake
  • Peel papaya, remove all seeds and slice into small pieces
  • Add some honey blend it for few seconds
  • Pour some milk into the blender
  • Add some sugar and ice cubes
  • Put it in mixer to get shake
Papaya smoothie

  • Peel papaya, remove all seeds and slice into small pieces
  • Add one banana
  • Add some milk
  • Add yogurt
  • Add vanilla flavor and few ice cubes
  • Blend it until it gets smooth
